Hello, I’m MusiCommentator, and for my ninth installment of Song Of The Week, I will be talking about Higher Brothers’s “Won’t Believe” featuring ScHoolboy Q.
I didn’t plan on talking about two members of 88rising so close to one another (check out last week’s Song Of The Week on “Hat Trick” by Lexie Liu), but Higher Brothers just dropped their new album “Five Stars” and it’s great! There are some filler tracks, like “Flexing So Hard” and “Diamond”, but most of the album is banger after banger. There are also some great features that pack out the album, from 88rising alums Rich Brian and NIKI to new collaborators like J.I.D. and Denzel Curry. They even made frickin’ Soulja Boy sound good, and it takes some serious talent to do that.
I wanted to do a “Song Of The Week” on one of the songs off this album, but I didn’t know which one to do. Most of the tracks are so amazing I didn’t want to talk about just one. However, I narrowed it down to this. I don’t want to call this my favorite track yet, but it’s certainly up there. The beat doesn’t waste a second of your time to show that it is a true banger. The Higher Brothers rap mostly in English, which is especially nice for the chorus. The best part about this song, though, is easily ScHoolboy Q. The TDE veteran gives such a great verse on here, providing the song with a great flow and rhyme scheme. I’m not saying this to discredit the Higher Brothers, though, because they are able to keep up with his energy and make the whole song quite entertaining. I would say to check this song out, but I am recommending you listen to the whole album if you want some great trap bangers!
