Chester Bennington Dies at 41

Chester Bennington, lead singer of famous rap-rock group Linkin Park, commited suicide yesterday (July 20, 2017) in his Calfornia Estate. Many were shocked by this event, even those who do not frequently listen to his music, like me, because it was so unexpected. Some suspect his suicide was due to his drug and alcohol abuse, but some also theorize that it might have been over his distraught feelings of sadness for Chris Cornell's death, who he was a friend of.

As I stated, I don't listen to Linkin Park very much, but even I am saddened by this death. It is sad to hear of people commiting suicide, especially when it is so unexpected as this one was. Either way, may Chester Bennington rest in peace.

  1. Yes, it was a complete shock. In reading a number of articles and posts about Bennington’s death, I’ve been rather surprised to learn that a lot of people did not care much for Linkin Park or their music, as I’ve long assumed they were immensely and widely popular. I’m much older than all the bloggers I follow, and would not expect my own generation to be fans of Linkin Park (though I love them). But I would have expected people in their 20s and 30s to be fans. That said, I love Coldplay, twenty one pilots and Foster the People, so what the fuck would I know?

  2. I was distraught to hear the news. I have been a fan of Linkin Park since I was about 10 years old, and like many other fans have stated, their music helped me through a lot of tough times, I wrote a bit about it here: https://alikerofthings.wordpress.com/2017/07/20/so-long-farewell-chester-be-and-thank-you/

The fact that it was a suicide, makes it hurt that much more to know that even though he has talked many teenagers off the ledge, he couldn’t do so for himself.
