MC’s Song Of The Week #39: “Take What You Want” by Post Malone (ft. Ozzy Osbourne & Travis Scott)

Hello, I’m MusiCommentator, and for my 39th Song Of The Week, I will be discussing “Take What You Want” by Post Malone, featuring Ozzy Osbourne and Travis Scott.

Post Malone is an artist that almost everyone is familiar with at this point. I talked about him numerous times on this blog with his songs “Sunflower“, “Wow.“, “Circles“, and “Goodbyes“, all of which are singles on his new album “Hollywood’s Bleeding”. My personal thoughts on this album: it’s okay. It’s nothing too special, to be honest. Surprisingly, there was a lot of filler on this album, which I guess I shouldn’t be too shocked about, but the amount of it was something i did not expect. Songs like “Internet”, “I Know”, and “On The Road” could all have been taken off the album and I would not shed one tear over it. However, this album also came with some of Post Malone’s best songs, like the autumnal single “Circles” mentioned above, the melodramatic “Die For Me” with Future and Halsey, and of course, this song!

The first thing that stuck out was the features on this song, namely Ozzy Osbourne. He is not an artist I thought I would see on the Top 10 this year, let alone on a Post Malone song. Not only that, but Travis Scott also has a feature credit on this song, so seeing these three names in a song was quite odd. However, the three band together on this track and show a surprising amount of chemistry with one another. Just looking at the three names, this song seems like it would be a mess, but the opposite is true. Ozzy starts the song with his rendition of the chorus, still sounding like a true rocker! Post Malone and Travis Scott come in with verses, both of them pretty good. The song focuses on the pretty stereotypical topic of a girl that broke our main singers’ hearts, but these three artists do a great job at making it sound as dramatic and entertaining as possible. And on top of all these great qualities, this track contains a killer guitar solo! Ozzy really shredded on this song! The beat it shreds over is some great psychedelic trap, too, so this is definitely a song you all should check out.
