Hello, I’m MusiCommentator, and for my fourteenth installment of Song Of The Week, I will be discussing “Give Me Your Now” by Allye Gaietto.
This is probably the least popular song I’ve ever talked about in this series so far. The YouTube video of the song I linked in this post doesn’t even have 100 views on it, which is sad because this is a really, really excellent track that deserves a lot more attention, so that’s why I’m going to talk about it today.
I originally found this song on an Apple Music playlist, and boy am I glad I did, because this is quite the amazing song! The instrumentation on this is beautiful, with the melancholic piano matching the mood of the sad drums and couple of other instruments strewn throughout the tracks. When it comes to instruments, though, the piano is definitely the star, and the chords played help elaborate on the emotions conveyed in the lyrics. Lyrically, this song is unique, as it covers a topic I really have not heard in a song before. Mistresses are very vilified in society, as most of them should be, but Allye takes the role of a mistress in this song and is able to make me sympathize with her. She goes through the emotions of how she feels when she finds out her man–the one she’s cheating with–is planning on marrying his actual girlfriend, and Allye feels incredibly abandoned. Allye does a fantastic job at making the audience feel the emotions she does, and she is able to go into such great detail that you feel like you are actually in the scene with her, especially in the second verse. Her voice is also a marvel, as she has great vocal chops when singing softly and loudly. This song is truly underrated, and I would absolutely recommend this to anyone reading it so she can get the attention she deserves as an artist!
